It's Called Relaxing

I sit here with a cup of coffee in one hand and my iPad on my lap, debating whether I want to take my book out to the beach or get my sewing out and do a little quilting. To give my calves a little break today I did not go for a run on the beach-but I'll head to the rec center later for a little workout. Fresh fruit and a wedge of skinny cow cheese for breakfast, a little aloe Vera to soothe my pink shoulders, and snuggles with a little boy with lots of freckles. This is vacation. It's taken a week to really settle in to this new lifestyle. Slow down, do less, relax. Do not be in a hurry. It won't matter, anyway. No one else around here is. When we arrived 9 days ago we were still in "moving" mode. We had just finished packing out, cleaning our house, and saying good-bye to many dear friends. We didn't know if or when we would be offered housing on post at Bragg, whether we should consider renting for a while, what we would do with the cats. It seemed kind of limbo-like. We were used to going fast, doing lots, and planning for the next thing. But God has a way of giving us what we need when we need it. We weren't getting any answers from housing, the fish were biting, and we just had to wait. So the boys fished, we sunned ourselves, Nick surfed, Joshua bought a cowboy hat with a shell trim, and we waited. And it felt good. In the last week we have gotten to visit with Jarrett and Rachael for a few days, met lots of nice people, ate at our favorite restaurant and found a new one we loved, had ice cream, played with the wild kitties, shot hoops, hunted for shark teeth (found over 200 so far!), played cards, spotted the first sea turtle nest of the season, and cheered for the Thunder to beat Miami. I'm calling it the "DC Detox." :) We'll be refreshed and ready to head to our next adventure. I am glad to announce that Fort Bragg DID finally call and offer us a house-on main post, and a half a mile from Dave's new work. We have to wait a month to move in, but we have figured out how to wait now. (I am considering some new apps for uploading pictures to blogger. When I decide on one, I'll treat you to a little peek at our detoxification.)
