Nick went to camp and when Joshua and I dropped him off we decided to hang around and explore a bit! We were in Transylvania County (which you can't say without using a vampire accent...) in an area known as the "Land of the Waterfalls." It was gorgeous. So gorgeous, in fact, that on our way home I drove past our exit and into South Carolina because I was so distracted by God's beauty, but that's another story....
Dropping off Nick at The Wilds....
We went hiking and marveled over several beautiful waterfalls.
This is Hooker Falls
And this is High Falls
The lovely town of Brevard...
The mountains in the background reminded me of Montana...
Our bed and breakfast, the Red House Inn. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. And the husband is from Australia, which made him instantly "cool" in Joshua's eyes...
Breakfast was soooo yummy. Locally sourced eggs, ham, and fruit, with homemade biscuits and peach jam. And grits. I love grits.
We shopped at O.P. Taylor's and ate at Mayberry's, and looked for the famous white squirrels that Brevard is known for. We were delighted to see one over breakfast, scampering in a nearby tree! And then it was time to go home.....and wait two weeks til we got to go back and pick Nick up.
